On the night of Sunday, February 2, four young individuals tragically lost their lives in a road accident in the Tehatta region of Nadia, West Bengal, while returning home after visiting Saraswati Thakur. The accident occurred near Kanai Khali Bazar, under the jurisdiction of the Karimpur police station. The four victims were riding a single motorbike when they reportedly lost control after overtaking a truck. The bike then crashed into a tree, throwing all four individuals onto the road.
Two of the victims, Suman Mondal (16) and Tanmay Biswas (18), were declared dead at the scene by attending medical personnel. The remaining two, Deep Mondal (20) and Manish Biswas (18), were critically injured and were initially transported to the Nazirpur Block Primary Health Center. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to Shaktinagar District Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
The victims were all residents of Ash Tulanganagar in the Tehatta police station area. Their ages ranged from 16 to 20 years old. The accident occurred as they were on their way home from Saraswati Puja celebrations. According to sources, the families of the deceased had been waiting for their return at home, unaware of the fatal accident.
The motorbike involved in the accident has been seized by the Karimpur police, who are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash. While police have not yet confirmed the involvement of alcohol, they are examining all possibilities, including reckless driving, to understand what led to the tragedy.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Shaktinagar District Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to gather all relevant details. The loss of four young lives has sent shockwaves through the community, which is now in mourning.
